🔥Josh tells his story🔥

Well where do I even start… I arrived at the lake on Friday in the torrential rain but this didn’t stop me doing a lap and after I stopped in 4 swims I came across a lot of fish rolling 60/70 yards out. So after a very wet and soggy setup I had a little lead around with an Arra lead and found a lovely little gravel spot, I applied a fair amount of hemp, corn, nuts boilie crumb, maggots and the nuts glug to the spot and deployed my ever faithful ronnie rig made up of the OMC Colne V hooks, vitabitz metal ware and the kickback linkz with a small pink dumbbell wafter. The bites came pretty quick with me landing a mega 22lb scaly ghostie shortly followed by a mega 29lb plump mirror. 2 smaller commons in the early hours then nothing during the day. Like clockwork the bites came in the hours of darkness which produced a mega 27lb common.

With no day bites I was eager to move and try and find them and I did exactly that. I ended up moving up the far end where I had seen a lot of shows in the days prior and this was a well executed move. Within 2 hours of moving I had an absolute 1 toner and I was attached to a low 30 common then shortly after I received another bite off a mega scaly old carp which was followed by an upper 20 common.

The night started off slow but at around 12am I received a few bleeps and the bobbin hit the floor and I hit into it and I was attached to a very powerful angry carp that tore me around for 20 odd minutes but she finally gave up and took one gulp of air and went into my net… I never expected to see what I saw, a very long, deep and wide common with a slight kink it it’s flank. I knew it was a good fish but never expected the needle to turn round to 34.07lb. After confirming with the bailiff it is now the biggest common in the lake and one that many will be chasing next year. A small common at first light ended my mega weekends fishing.
